We probably won't leave the next bull market as we intend

I understand that we all expect some profits from our investments, but our expectations often doesn't translate to the truth. As the next bull market approaches, all of us have our 2x, 3x or more plans for profit-taking, but in fact greed is a b*tch.

A survey by Pew Research from July 2022 has pointed out that only 15% of investors in the US did better than expected:

A very common thing to happen with investors is that they're left with their bags full due to greed. I've seen this happening in previous bull markets. We all wait for "just more 10%" and then everything vanishes. A Glassnode study from December 2022 has also pointed out that 80% of Bitcoin investors have lost money.

I tend to believe this will also be the case for the upcoming bull market, as sticking to one's plan is often very hard once greed kicks. In the last run I was always thinking "just more 10%" and ended up taking less profits than I could have, and here I'm not talking about timing the peak, but simply at taking some profits.

If I had some advice, it would be to have a DCA-out strategy and sticking to it, no matter what. That's of course what I say now. When FOMO kicks in, even though you're 100%+ up, the last thing you want is to be left behind.
