Want to invest a modest sum 1-5k to Bitcoin - How/Where if Ledger "unreliable"?

Hi folks,

i really have done as much digging as an amateur can do before posting. I want to invest a small sum into bitcoin and leave it there until at least a 10x.

Maybe more down the line but when I look up my options, everywhere I get warnings about reliability and trust.

  • Revolut APP - fees are high and its essentially a bank, so using a bank to buy decentralized seems strange anyway
  • Coinbase/Binance - unreliable as they are subject to laws and regulations and there is some investigation going on as I currently understand it?
  • Software Wallet - can be hacked
  • Hardware Wallet - I hear Ledger is good then I read there was a security breach.

At this point, an offline hardware storage seems the best solution to sit and hodl. Is Ledger still dependable or is there a good alternative? Also want to consider the cost and subscription fees, Im sure there needs to be a minimum investment to make it worth while for monthly fees.

Appreciate any tips or advice, would also appreciate if you don't use any acronyms I haven't used here, and plainer terms as I am just educating myself but also don't want to miss this opportunity.
