 | With everything that's been going on lately I felt like there was nothing we could do but trust something responsible for making us a seed phrase, aside from rolling dice but even still what happens after that? I needed something for myself first and foremost, something I knew front to back was doing what I expected it to do. I needed a seed phrase derived from radioactive decay... So I came up with Entropy32, an AVR based seed generator that observes Geiger counter clicks and takes the time between them as the entropy source. It started off on a breadboard, migrated to the first PCB which was a monster and used through hole components: I then took everything that worked from this version and compressed it down to a PCB a quarter of the size of this one, something that could now fit in the palm of your hand: I wanted to show this off to people who like me, are feeling a bit concerned about recent AI advancements targeting hardware we used to rely on. I wanted to prove how we can always overcome these challenges in creative and powerful ways - anyone can build this or something like this. I don't want you to trust me or this device, I want to inspire people out there to build the things we need to make this work. I don't want to trust anyone or anything anymore, that's why I have this. The firmware, hardware and everything in between is open source and on GitHub for those interested, this hasn't been properly tested yet to determine if the entropy source passes critical tests like NIST - so please don't use this to secure real world funds.
