I find the idea of showing my IP adress when running a bitcoin node concerning. Therefore my question is: Which of the three methods listed above (Proxy,VPN,Tor) would be best suited to hide my IP. I'm not very well versed in the IT world (yet) and have heared, that running a node via tor can have more downside risks than benefits if one dosen't know what he is doing (which I do not). Feel free to confirm or deny that if you know better than me.
My problem with a VPN is, that the provider gets access to my personal data and could therefore easily rat me out if s*hit hits the fan. As i bitcoiner I dislike the thought of trusting somebody like that . Hence a proxy looks like my best option right now. As far as I am aware, I could use an old pc or a raspberry pi to run a proxy myself. But if i run a proxy connected to my router, that wouldn't resolve anything, right? (because my ip adress still reveals my location and all) So is there a better/correct way to run a proxy from my own home or should I just use a VPN/ Tor because the're better anyway?
I'd very much appreciate any input on this matter.
