My Adventures as a Crypto Bounty Hunter : Investigation Edition (Help solve the mistery)

I'm back on the hunt for the latest crypto scammer, and this time I'm on the trail of the disappearing BTC.

While working on behalf of a client, I recently encountered a scammer who stole around $145,000 in Ether. My client was duped by an investment scam in which the group promised 6.6 BTC as collateral for an 88 Ether investment. The group sent the promised 6.6 BTC first and my client, seeing the funds in his wallet, made the 88 Ether payment. But within minutes, the funds were gone. How did they do it? It appears they sent the transaction on the same hash, but it went to a different address. I suspect the scammer exploited a bug in the provider's wallet or had control of a node and sent a fraudulent transaction that wasn't validated by others.

I am currently investigating the scammer's digital footprint and following the trail to multiple KYC accounts. I'm still not 100% sure how they made the transaction appear on my client's wallet, so if anyone has any suggestions, I'm listening!

This highlights the importance of waiting for confirmations before assuming you have received any crypto. Unfortunately for the scammer, the digital footprint of the wallet that received 88 ETH is vast and at the moment, I am investigating every transaction previously made by the perpetrator, which hopefully will lead to some good old queasy_length justice!

This case is still in its infancy, I'm only publishing this now to get some opinions on the BTC side about what happened there. If you would like, I can provide updates in the future.

EDIT : The scammer sent the funds and canceled the transaction by sending the funds to a different address with a much higher fee
