How do you use bitcoin?

With so many posts here about bitcoin's fiat price and how much it will be worth years from now, it's easy to forget that bitcoin isn't waiting for some future state to be useful.

I personally do still use bitcoin as a savings account (in self-custody obviously), but not in the hopes that one day I can trade it for more garbage fiat. Instead, I use it to park the products of my labor outside the current corrupt financial system so that it cannot profit off me or control me. Saving in bitcoin also has the advantage that I never have to worry about bank runs, or waking up one day to find that my "savings" have been confiscated or devalued to zero via inflation or negative interest rates. If the US becomes more totalitarian, I don't have my wealth tied up in real estate that I can't take with me if I have to leave. Yes, the purchasing power of bitcoin varies, but that's why I use a DCA strategy when I buy it.

Savings aside, I also use bitcoin to buy things though. I use bitrefill a LOT. I purchase airline tickets, hotel rooms, groceries, restaurant meals and many other goods/services. Unlike our useless banking system, bitcoin is never closed on the weekends or holidays, and I can always use it on my terms and schedule. I like having this freedom and don't want to support the nanny state more than I absolutely have to. I vote with my wallet, which I feel is the only vote that actually matters.
