![]() | Coindesk reported that FTX users are receiving emails from the official email of [support@ftx.com](mailto:[email protected]) and that the emails are potentially a scam. I am here to tell you that there's a 99.9% probability that the emails are a scam. I also received the email and here's what it looks like. There is no way a legitimate website would suddenly email telling you you have to confirm your email without you clicking some corresponding button or link on the website. On top of that they wouldn't give you a random 5 minute time limit. People don't live in front of their email inbox. This is a classic tactic by scammers to get victims emotional and make mistakes and bad decisions. There's also a different version of the scam where scammers ask users to reset their email. There was actually another email I received from [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) which is probably legitimate. This actually gives proper details about the bankruptcy as well as legal information(the full email is VERY long and VERY detailed and comes from kroll.com(a restructuring firm, among other things) who have a good reputation, which we can't say for FTX. The kroll.com email also actually warns against sending sensitive information to questionable sources. The scam email from ftx.com was also sent within minutes of the (probably legitimate) one from [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) so it was a calculated move by the scammers. Coindesk also reported that FTX did not respond when they reached out for comment. That is a HUGE red flag for a company not to respond extremely quickly to such a massive security risk and issue, especially with such a terrible reputation already. Somehow, FTX gets worse and worse and worse. [link] [comments] |
