for the haters of bitcoin

i see a lot of hate for bitcoin, and around the concept that it is just a database/ledger entry. but that joke cuts both ways. isn't your bank account also a db entry?

your bank account is worse. it is an entry in a private company's database. The bank can freeze it, reverse a transaction, correct an error, or comply with a court order changing the number. You also need their permission to move money and they can decline lol.

And the entry is really a claim... it's the bank owing you, usually held by deposit insurance and a central bank.

on the other hand bitcoin is decentralized. if you own it you can spend it, sure there is volatility but no one gets to deny you your money. sure other people might not accept it (have you seen how lightning payments have been doing?) or the value might fall.

the freedom of it makes it digital gold as well, just like no one will ever deny you physically handing gold over to someone else. no one will ever refuse you to send bitcoin as well, as long as there is an acceptor
