I’ve been in the banking and investing world my whole career. I know how banks operate first hand. When I was starting out it was difficult for me to get a foot in the door, so naturally I assumed everyone must be smarter and more competent.
Luckily, I didn’t let that stop me. I’ve since left the banks behind and am now the head of asset management for a $2.5 billion private wealth & investment management firm. What’s the biggest thing I’ve learned? That most people just press the buttons they were told to press and regurgitate talking points when faced with tough questions.
In the midst of serious concerns around the US Dollar, I’ve heard many investing professionals say things like “the dollar has the largest global share” and “it’s still the main reserve currency.” The weakness of this mental mindset is dangerous, and I believe a period of transformation is afoot. I also believe Bitcoin will be a central piece to the puzzle.
The pilot article for my new Substack column TRADE STREET entitled “Is the Dollar Doomed? (Part 1)” is the first of 3 or 4 parts on the health of the US dollar.
Part 1 discusses the rock and hard place J. Powell has put the Fed & the country in with respect to monetary policy, the banking system, and inflation.
Ultimately the viability of the dollar will play a major part in Bitcoin adoption domestically and abroad, as well as its price action. And there are several macro red flags if we take a 10-20 year view. I think Bitcoin HODLers are naturally long term holders and this will make sense to them and align with the Bitcoin thesis.
I’m hoping to build relationships in this community. This isn’t a shallow solicitation for subs. I truly hope to build a group of people who care about the direction of markets and society, and foster open discussion around how those things are interconnected.
