Binance Reopens Withdrawals Across 15 Crypto Networks

Binance’s latest update added withdrawals for ZEC on Zcash, USDT and GRAM on TON, and SUI on Sui. Those are the networks that are linked to Bitcoin, Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, XRP Ledger, Base, Dogecoin, Optimism, Arbitrum, Tron, Solana, Polygon and Avalanche C-Chain.

According to the exchange, it is attempting to restore the networks on a phased basis and every network is going through security and stability tests before withdrawals are turned on.

Stablecoins Return Across Major Chains

Withdrawals of USDT and USDC are already enabled on several of Binance’s biggest supported networks, such as Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Solana, Polygon and Arbitrum.

This is particularly significant since they are a significant proportion of exchange liquidity and are frequently utilized by traders swapping assets between exchange spots. Binance has announced that more assets and networks will be returning once more checks are made.

Binance Sees Billions Leave After $6.3B Hack

Heavy withdrawal activity that orchestrated the reopening. DEFLI has recorded $5.8 billion in net outflows, while Binance has recorded roughly $3.64 billion in net outflows. Binance has an estimated $171 billion worth of customer assets, and the official net outflow was around 2.1% of the total customer assets, according to Reuters.

Withdrawals came after a massive security breach where approximately $6.3 billion in crypto assets were stolen.

The FBI blamed TraderTraitor hackers, linked to a North Korean insurgency, for the attack, said Reuters. Binance, in turn, has responded that it covered approximately $6 billion of the lost assets with its Secure Asset Fund for Users and futures insurance fund.

Withdrawal Recovery Becomes a Test of Binance Liquidity

One of the most definitive signs of user responses to the hack is the rate of withdrawals. People have requested withdrawals in large numbers after Binance resumed operations, but the withdrawals seem to have settled down in recent times, Binance stated. Meanwhile, gross withdrawals did not affect overall exchange reserves, as deposits kept coming in.

In the wake of the exchange, new hot wallet addresses have also had to be created as a security response and uploaded into the exchanges Proof of Reserves infrastructure.

The big one for traders will be what happens to the flow of funds as the rest of the networks are all back. In the meantime, Binance’s gradual reopening is a serious exercise in how effective its reserves, security measures, and customer faith will be if a massive attack is implemented.
